Thanks also to the Woices iPhone team for being so cocky and make the android guys show their best :-)
Thanks also to Google for giving us 3 Nexus1 for free. That definitely increased the woices Android fan base :-)
BTW, this is not over. New features are being added to both the iPhone and Android Woices apps right now. And the Blackberry woices team has been founded, so expect a new baby soon! Stay tunned!

Goodbye Infospots, welcome Sponsored Guides!

sponsored guides
We have some naming news today. Woices Infospots, our premium service for cities, museums, natural parks or any organization willing to offer an exclusive, custom, audioguide service to their visitors is gone. For good. Well, not exactly. Actually, we have renamed it. We are going to call them Sponsored guides. The new name does more justice to what it is and, in addition, its easier to remember! :-)
Sponsored guides are the easier way for an organization to deliver location based audioguide services to their visitors. The audio is sent to the visitors mobile phone, so there is no need of buying and deploying any hardware or infrastructure. It's dead simpple. Sponsored guides curators can create and manage all the content through the web (as easy as publishing a blog) while woices technology delivers it to any mobile phone or smartphone. New woices application for the iPhone and iPod touch
This week Apple has approved a major update of the woices application for the iPhone and (for the first time) also for the iPod touch.
Besides some small changes and minor fixes, the major new features that this new version include are:
1. Sponsored guides (infospots) now have a more prominent appearance in the application and when users enter into one of them, a custom, branded mini-application is launched, exclusively for the sponsored guide, giving them more personality and stronger presence. Inside the sponsored guide application the user can see all its information, walks and listen to all their echoes. Finally users can quit the sponsored guide application and go back to the main woices application.
2. Users can follow sponsored guides walks, and navigate through all it echoes by taping on the lateral arrows to advance or go back.
3. The echo page has been redesigned giving more space for its photo and embedding the audio player at the bottom.
4. A new GPS notification area showing your current detected location has been added to the explore list page. Feedback = usability!
5. The application now is also compatible with the iPod touch. A request that was made by several organisations (most of the museum) since they'd love to have a stack of them with woices already loaded and lend them to those visitors who do not have a mobile phone.
A video showing how of does the new sponsored guide application look like has been also been created.

Watch an InfoSpot in action!
Do you want to see how an InfoSpot looks like in our iPhone?
When your Infospot visitors launch the iPhone application, they see a list of all your echoes (audio records) and walks ordered by proximity. Then, they can follow a walk by going to every echo location and play them in succession. Or, if they feel like, they can simply wander around and play the echoes as they find them. Visitors also get access to photos and descriptions in addition to the audio content.

Meet woices premium services
For the last few weeks we have been working hard to improve the information available in our site, and one of the first steps has been the creation of an InfoSpot (woices premium service) tour.
In 5 minutes you can see what an InfoSpot is, where you can use, how easy it is to create one and how cheap it is. Now you can sign up a trial version of the premium service and play with it for 30 days to see how it works and how easy it is to create its content and make it available to your visitors through their mobile phones. Check http://woices.com/infospots/signup for more info.
